I want API access
At the moment all Pro users (including ProLite) can get their API keys by going to My Account » Settings » API access. Developers interested in writing API applications, but not having Pro account can request a trial API access by commenting this page.
Get API access now!
- Add a comment below! We are monitoring the comments and will be adding new developers.
- Briefly how what you would use the API access for (if you already know).
- You can read your keys at My Account » Settings » API access.
- Note the API access needs to be enabled in admin:manage: Manage Site » API access » Enable API access to this site
Resetting API key
Once you get API keys, you can reset them (regenerate) at My Account » Settings » API access.

For me, The only bad thing on wikidot.com is missing of remote blog posting and trackback feature. I interested on it.
To aggregate content from other sites in a "planet" style way.

I am developing javascript applications that use ListPages data that I save to a text file. Copying this data to a text file is a manual operation. I am hoping to access page data directly if I have an access key so the tables I generate always are up-to-date. Another simple application is to create a variation of ListPages that filters on more than one field at a time using a math function as filtering criteria. For example, I store map coordinates in a data form for each item in my database. I would use my javascript to generate a table of items located within a certain search area of a map (xmin<x<xmax and ymin<y<ymax). I have been experimenting with javascript scrollbars that I hope to link to the search criteria. I have lots of ideas on how to use Wikidot.

I have several Wikidot projects for libraries in Scotland which involve creating an online listing of books, CDs and other reference material currently held in an inaccessible (for the public) oracle or access database. For one of these sites at http://procurators.wikidot.com/library:acquisitions I had a list of books which had to be entered manually. It was only 553 pages so far but took several days doing it page by page. The API would hopefully allow me to capture the data from the database directly and remove the need to create a page manually for each record.

So wait, if I did the api access before, does that mean the key I have is valid? It works, so I'm guessing it's valid, I am just wondering if you want to redo the keys or something.
If it's working then yes - it's valid. If you want another one, go to that page Michal mentioned and re-generate yourself a new key! :)

Yes, old keys still work fine.

Hey Michal,
Could I please have an API key for this account? I plan to use it as the default account for users of my wikidot editor - it'll only have access to a simple sandbox-style site for testing (would rather not use my own account and key for that, for obvious reasons).

OK, key granted

I would like an API key to test the import / export features of leiger's latest STE release (v2.0).
Thanks,
Bryce

I would also like to have the API key for leiger's STE…

I'm interested in utilizing Wikidot to its full potential which of course would require an API for automation, etc.
Currently my interests are documentation engines that provide information in a quick and easy way that is sorely lacking in the open source community and beyond.
Wikidot is terrific, so I thank you. I've been waiting for the availability of an API, and with it I will finally be able to "play" :-)
thanks.. ~Peter
Next tranche of keys granted.

Excuse me, but I haven't got any notice of this. I popped in here to see what's new, and I have just discovered I've been granted the key. Where I can find this key of mine? I am sorry if I put stupid questions, but I really try to learn all this stuff…

Your key will be in My Account -> Account Settings -> API Access
