Hey all! I'm a developer for the SCP wiki, and it looks like every time I try to run pages.select, with the rating argument, I'm getting an "Argument rating not valid" back from the XML-RPC api

I'm working in java, and setting the "rating" string equal to ">=-15" I've also tried "n>=-15" ">,>=-15" and about a zillion combinations thereof.

Am I missing something here?

Yes. this will work, but in a different way :

  • "record1" equals the "page-name" like "table1:###" ( table1 = category, ### = record/page autonumber starting with 1
  • "field1: value" (nl) equals dataform = "value (\nl)" - \nl = next line
  • "field2: value" (nl) equals dataform = "value (\nl)"

and tags are set as index fields, or some fields value = recoird numbers of other tables

you should ask for API accces!

I have in mind using one file with many records, that can be converted into a wikidot database, so then "dataforms" can access this database of records. Perhaps an SQL file, or a text file of the form "record1\t field1:value\t field2:value2\n" for example.

No, this does not work in this manner ( I was my life Long a database admin) .

a record equals a page ( if you want to use dataforms later to read and show them on a live "_template" page!)

And Yes, "I Want API Access" like the others here - is a good message fopr the developers ( not me, I am only an admin of the community)

Thank you Helmut for your quick reply.
I don't understand what "source" I should use in the page. And isn't this method a storing page-by-page. That would seem no faster than using dataforms. I have in mind using one page (or file) with many records, that can be converted into a database, and then "dataforms" can access this database of records.
Also I do not yet have API access. Perhaps I should have said "I Want API Access" like the others here.

Yes, of course!

You can use a specific category ( like "table1:" ) for this records and set the category to "autonumbered" in the site manager.

Than you can add "records" ( in plain "source" , page = 1 record) in one go ( better not more than 250 in one go, not to overrun the buffering).

If you need indexes of this records you can add tags of the records to them.

Am I able to add a batch of appropriately formatted records to my wiki in one hit (rather than typing each record on a "dataform") using API access?

I would be creating an index library for a list of development with a custom search engine.

I Want API Access by Slater RiverSlater River, 27 Mar 2017 17:45

As I mentioned in an earlier bug report (667), I need to keep copies of all of the pages of a site (Fancyclopedia III). In order to do that I watch the site and use the watch e-mail messages to keep track of what needs to be downloaded to keep my copies up to date. For some reason that I don't understand some time after 09:12:48 Zulu 22 Feb 2017 this service failed completely for me and there have been over 730 updates to our pages since that time that I have received no notifications for. I have checked everything that I can think of to check but I have had no luck in finding the problem.

Any and all help will be appreciated…

Hi, I'd like to connect my wiki with mobile app - if we successfully adapt, we'll probably scale up.

Key please by MichalKomMichalKom, 05 Feb 2017 23:27

Hi,
I would like to publish the most recent version of the ZeroMQ guide by Pieter Hintjens (zguide.zeromq.org). Pieter has a script that uploads the book to wikidot but to do so I need API access.

Thanks in advance!

Hello again,

I am the developer for Wikimated, which you can find here: http://www.wikimated.com

However, I am not a developer for Wikidot (where you are now). So I cannot grant you a Wikidot API key.

You'll have to wait for a Wikidot developer to get in touch and provide you with a key (or upgrade to a paid account on Wikidot), so that you can use Wikimated.

Please let me know if this is unclear?

So are you waiting until Wikimated becomes stable to grant API Access Keys for Wikimated?

Hi MrMoney,

Wikimated is still in the early stages, and limited in functionality. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated, when you do get granted an API key!

I would like to have API Access to use Wikimated. Wikimated is used to set up tasks for your Wikidot site.
