Having a lot of trouble getting data from the API over the last several hours. This is in an application that is stable for the most part.
Me too, but just once late yesterday. I was downloading 64 pages and got an error on the 62nd, something about "Too may requests". I thought the limit was 200…
And again today, downloading 87 pages and the 62nd returned to following:
Traceback (most recent call last):

Getting a 503: Service Unavailable on my application. It appears on both my amazon instance and my home computer, so I assume it's not on my end. Anyone else getting this issue?
Same problem here. I've sent in support requests for assistance, so hopefully the problem will be resolved soon.

Hi,
we had to throttle, and than temporarily disable XML RPC api yesterday as we had serious issues with load balancers. We are re-enabling the endpoint as we speak.
Wikidot has been a bit unstable over the weekend — we spent many hours at Fri/Sat, Sat/Sun night and yesterday to mitigate the problems but we are still waiting for AWS to investigate on their side. For some balancers started to introduce significant delays (after SYN_SENT, before connection fully established) and we were trying some really weird stuff to diagnose it and keep Wikidot uninterrupted. We have no inside intel on the ELB service, it's making things a bit more complex.
TL;DR; XML-RPC is enabled now. If you run into issues, it's because web load balancers have issues. We are on it.

I think - Amazon has moved /built their new datacenter to Frankfurt for European customers.. - could be this was the primary reason for all this balancing problems..
Service is my success. My webtips:www.blender.org (Open source), Wikidot-Handbook.

Amazon launched a new datacenter (region) in Frankfurt, but regions are autonomous. It should not affect other regions.
I have posted a quick story about the issue on our blog at http://blog.wikidot.com/blog:scaling-issue.
Anyway, everything should be back to normal. We are still doing some tuning, but Wikidot is rock-stable again.
Cheers,
Michal
